Why I love him....(Self Professed Barackophile)

Barack Hussein Obama.... most women love you. Well, most of the women I know. They like your charm, your charisma, your intelligence, and you love for the way you treat your children and your wife. I admire those things about you. However, that is not why I love you. I love you because you have not let the circumstances of your existence beat you down. That is the most beautiful thing about you. You also exemplify the American spirit, and on top of that you are truly an African American.
You inspire me to let go of the baggage of my past, and truly see the brightness of my future. You remind me that "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."

Because of you and your inspiration, I am going to do the things that I have talent to do and I am going to start now. I know that this in an unrequited love.... So I resolve to love you from a distance.

Germs can become your Worst nightmare.

Who knew that staph infections could be life threatening? I surely didn't. I often remarked that we are being too cautious with our children, and we are making them more susceptible to germs. Hand sanitizer anyone?

You notice I used past tense. I felt that way until I started reading about MRSA. Who would have thought that a staph infection could kill you? Well it can be a life threatening condition. So how do I find out more information about MRSA and what can I do to prevent this from happening to me and my family? Fortunately help is on the way.

Go to Stopmrsanow.org This site is comprehensive. It provides frequently asked questions, it provides information on how you can take action at your child's school, daycare, and even the hospital. In addition to the FAQS, it also provides links to families stories about MRSA and how it has affected them. For more information on MRSA visit stopmrsanow.org

Below are some tips to fight MRSA:

  • Scrub up - Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 15 seconds - the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice - or use an alcohol-based hand rub sanitizer.
  • Wipe it down - Use a disinfecting bleach solution to wipe down and disinfect hard surfaces. Make sure to use clean cloths to avoid spreading MRSA from one surface to another. (1 tablespoon of disinfecting bleach diluted in 1 quart of water)
  • Cover your cuts - Keep any nicks or wounds covered with a clean, dry bandage until healed.
  • Keep to yourself - Do not share personal items, like towels or razors, that come into contact with bare skin.
  • Use a barrier - Keep a towel or clothing between skin and shared equipment
I hope that no one has to deal with this, but the stopmrsanow website is a good place to start.

Woogi World, Party time Excellent.......

Judging from my post, I would say that I grew up as a child in the eighties. Woogi World takes me back to that time, but with more wholesome directed entertainment. It was an excellent idea to set up a website that is a little bit like Second Life, but it is geared toward safety, rewards, and children. My daughter enjoys the site's interface, and she likes her woogi.

As an educator, I am pleased to say that I can recommend this site to my parents. They often vacillate between total internet freedom to total internet lockdown. It is nice to have something to recommend to them for their elementary school aged children.

The benefits of this site far outweigh any cost you may incur. Unfortunately you may have to buy an additional computer because the children may want to be on the website all of the time.
Children can earn money, create things, earn points, change their woogi's hair style and a host of other things.

For more information about this site, go and check it out yourself! Check out Woogi World here: http://www.woogiworld.com
